Yuk! It looks like you were unfortunate enough to find a pigeon roost. Good job you didn't leave it there any longer.
Identifying birds by their droppings is indeed an advance level of wildlife knowledge ;-)
All cleaned off shortly after the picture was taken - and boat long way from that tree now...
Kath (Herbie) could probably turn that fascinating mess of colours and textures into a beautiful textile piece and we'd all love it!
